We are people living in Denton, Texas. Our group includes people who are homeless, people living with mental health and/or physical disability, professors, helping professionals and people who are interested in making a difference.
We are a group of people seeking to help others and ourselves. We meet as a group every Thursday at the Denton Community Health Clinic from somewhere around 2:00 until 4:00 PM. The group members decide what they want to work on. Our first two goals have been:
1. Advocating for people in Denton who need help.
2. Developing some productive occupations.
We are supported by the Denton Community Health Clinic and Texas Woman’s University’s School of Occupational Therapy. We have advocated with everyone from area agencies to legislators. We engage in crafts and other activities and are hoping to develop a line of recycled products to sell locally. We are advocates with varied experiences who come together to support each other.
