Jeffrey Rous, UNT
Jeff is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of North Texas where he teaches urban economics and microeconomics courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He grew up in the Chicago area where his family was involved in the dairy business. His interest in farmers’ markets partially originated in his graduate school days in Chapel Hill, North Carolina at UNC where he enjoyed visiting thriving farmers’ markets in both Chapel Hill and Raleigh. He saw how this amenity added to the appeal of the city and to the local economy. He also had been a long-time member of the UNT Sustainability Council, and enjoys merging economic decisions with environmental sustainability. He joined the Denton Community Market as a Board member to bring his expertise on economics and urban growth to decisions on how to make the market economically sustainable in pricing structures, new site decisions, budget decisions, and to help farmers and small businesses thrive in the Market.
