Biography

Darien Orr, Board Member

Darien came to Denton to study graphic design at NTSU in the 1980’s and has been an enthusiastic supporter and appreciator of the city ever since! In 2009 she launched Denton Design Company producing her original photographs and drawings celebrating life in Little d. The same year the Denton Community Market was established, and Darien was delighted to become one of the founding vendors. For the next eight years she and her vintage camper Bonnie were often at the market, relishing the atmosphere and interaction with
vendors and visitors.

Now a realtor with Ebby Halliday in Denton, Darien’s focus is on her real estate business and supporting local non-profits. Serving on the Community Market’s Board of Directors gives her an opportunity to use experience gained working in administration (Denton Calvary Academy) small business management (5 Star Rental) and customer assistance (Denton Convention and Visitor’s Bureau/Chamber of Commerce) and as a previous market vendor. Other non-profits she volunteers with and/or serves on event committees for include United Way of Denton County, Denton County Office of History and Culture, Children’s Advocacy Center of Denton County, Denton Benefit League, Denton Community Theatre, and Woman to Woman Pregnancy Resource Center.

Her goal is to do all she can to ensure that every resident and visitor has the best experience possible in the dynamic, culturally rich and growing city of Denton!
