New Executive Director Announced for 2020 for the Denton Community Market

I wanted to thank everyone for supporting the Market this year in the many changes that are in process. Over the past couple of months, we have been searching for someone to take over my position as Executive Director once I leave in January. I am happy to announce that Chelsea Lewis will be taking on that role for 2020! She will be the ED-in-training through January 8th when I change my role to assist the Board at that time, and she takes over as ED. She comes to us with non-profit experience at Tibet House (Menla) in upstate New York where she was the front house manager of a retreat center. She also has experience with grant writing at a university. The Board and I believe she has the capacity to learn how to run this non-profit organization and the market. She is a resident of Denton, which I think is beneficial in being accessible and involved with the community. I have committed to assisting in a smooth transition, time permitting. As I have already announced, I am moving on to other endeavors. I will continue to help the Board of Directors guide her through this transitional process over many months. This was a memorable 10-year journey of the Market, and we look forward to exciting things in the next decade of the Denton Community Market.

In community,

Vicki Oppenheim, current Executive Director and Co-Founder
